About therapy
You don't need to know what to say or how therapy works before you begin. We can start with what feels most important to you, and we will explore your thoughts, feelings, experiences and bodily responses so that things can begin to feel clearer and less overwhelming.
Long-term benefits of therapy include being able to understand yourself better, increase your sense of purpose and clarity, feel more at ease in yourself and the world, improve your relationships and experience meaningful and lasting self-acceptance, recovery and growth.
You can live more fully and with choice.
To respond to you as a unique individual, I provide an integrative therapeutic approach tailored to your individual needs.
Sessions are based around us talking—verbal communication—but if you are interested in doing so, we can also work with exploring your non-verbal communication and physical sensations, which helps therapy achieve a deeper and more lasting impact.
What I offer
Support for living more fully.
Psychotherapy and counselling for stress, anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship difficulties and personal growth.
Somatic work to support your natural balance as an addition to counselling and psychotherapy or as a standalone therapy.
About Me
As a BACP Accredited therapist, and as someone who has regular therapy myself, I'm completely convinced that therapy can be life-changing.
Most people can reap its benefits through talking therapy—the so-called 'top-down' approach. Understanding and insight really makes a difference and can be life changing in itself.
However, particularly when working with people with relational and childhood trauma, I have become particularly interested in how some people struggle to recover and remain stuck in old patterns despite having a lot of insight and understanding of themselves.
Only when understanding connects with experience does it really fall into place and become a new way of being. This was my experience, and I see it in some people I work with. I had this sense that this capacity for choice and freedom to act was something about connecting head to heart or mind to body—but how to reliably achieve this for people?
I heard about somatic therapy and how past experiences and relational patterns can be held in the body. Some things only seem accessible through working with them directly—a so-called 'bottom-up' approach. To deepen my work and personal process in this area, I am undertaking an advanced four-year postgraduate training in body-oriented psychotherapy at the Cambridge Body Psychotherapy Centre.
