What is Biodynamic Therapy

Developed by Gerda Boyesen, this somatic therapy treats the mind and body as one.  for a restorative or energising experience.

The intention with this form of massage is to meet you where you are right now and support your body’s natural capacity for mental and emotional health. By listening to your 'inner peristalsis,' we can hear how your body is responding to the different techniques.

Every session is individual, using gentle touch or energetic presence. You remain completely in control of the pace and boundaries throughout. It is a collaborative process designed to help you feel grounded, safe, and heard.

No oil is used and you can wear light clothing if you would prefer.

Techniques include

Basic Touch

A gentle, attentive form of contact that allows the practitioner to listen through touch and gain a sense of how your body is holding tension, energy and experience. It helps establish safety, trust and connection at the beginning of the work.

Packing

A nurturing technique that can help when you feel overwhelmed, scattered or disconnected. It supports a stronger sense of grounding, containment and physical presence.

Resistance Work

This approach uses gentle resistance to build body awareness, strength and a clearer sense of personal boundaries. It can help you feel more centred and supported within yourself.

Energy Distribution

A technique that encourages the natural movement of energy throughout the body. Many people experience this as a greater sense of grounding and balance.

Emptying

Used when areas of the body feel heavy, congested or stuck. The intention is to encourage release, restore flow and create a greater sense of spaciousness and lightness.

Connective Tissue Massage

Working with the fascia and connective tissues, this approach helps soften restrictions and improve fluidity throughout the body. Clients often experience increased freedom of movement and a renewed sense of vitality.

Deep Draining

A deeper technique used to work with chronic muscular tension and long-held patterns of holding. As the body softens, there can be a greater sense of ease, emotional release and renewed aliveness.

Hypotonus Massage

Designed for areas where muscle tone is low or depleted. Through supportive touch, stretching and awareness of the breath, this work can help bring more vitality, responsiveness and presence into the tissues.

Lifting

A technique that works with tendons, joints and muscle attachments to encourage greater mobility and release patterns of contraction. It can create a feeling of expansion, openness and freedom of movement.

Holding and Polarisation

Sessions often conclude with a period of still, supportive contact. This helps the body and nervous system integrate the work, allowing you to leave feeling more settled, present and connected.

Non-Touch or Energy-Based Work

At times, biodynamic work may be offered without physical touch. This can be particularly supportive when touch is not appropriate or desired, or when a client needs more space. Through attentive presence and energetic awareness, the practitioner supports the body's natural capacity for balance and healing.

Designed to foster inner peace and restoration, biodynamic massage sessions support your wellbeing. Each session appointment lasts about one hour, offering you a pathway toward grounding and emotional balance.

Single sessions are available for £70, or you may choose a course of six sessions for £390.
